1. "The Sphere" - Fritz Keonig
The sphere is a sculpture that was near the twin towers in New York, this is what it used to look like before the 9/11 disaster. I really like the form and material that its been made in.
This is what is left of it now after the 9/11 disaster and I think its still a beautiful piece because now it has a story behind it and it instantly makes you think of what happend to the twin towers. So it is very momumental and makes you stop and think about the people who died in the attack of 9/11. Its much more eye catching as you can clearly see the damage that was done to the piece but it survived, so it represents that day because even though it was a horrible event that happened in America they came through it stronger than ever. I was lucky enough to see this when I visited New York back in 2010 and I remeber thinking back then that I loved this piece.
2. "Paper sculpture" - Valerie Buess
I love this piece by Valerie Buess because of the way she has used a material that is usually very dull and turned it into something beautiful and organic. She's manipulated the paper in a way that you dont even recognize what the material is anymore which is very clever. I also think that the colours she has used are very sophisticated and not too much, its a very striking and eye catching piece. She has other work which are very similar to this and she has a beautiful collection of work in my opinion.
3. "Ink Photography" - Alberto Seveso
I am usually not a big fan of photography but the work of Alberto Seveso I think is amazing. I love how original his work is as its not often you see someone photogrph ink falling into water so beautifally like he has. I like how colorful these photographs are and I especially like the forms you see in them because when I first saw these photographs i thought they were sulptures made in clay or fabric so I think Alberto Seveso is one of my favourite photographers that i've seen so far.
4. "Glass Work" - Heather Gillespie
This os one of my favourite glass pieces because i like how organic. I love glass work and am very interested in knowing how these kind of forms get made, and hope one day i'll get the opportunity to try it out some day. i especially like this piece in particular because it reminds me of liquid, as it is very shiny and because of the colour used to create it it looks like like a wave of water has frozen as the forms on it flows like water. So it reminds me a lot of a waterfall because of this.
5. "The Red Cube" -
This is another piece of work that i saw when visited New York back in 2010 and from the moment i saw it i loved it instantly because its a very striking and eye catching piece. It's fun to look at as it is a very random thing to see in the middle of a busy place and because it is really big and the colour of it is very flashy it would be very hard to miss it. So I was happy when i saw this because it made me laugh and wonder why it was about and why it was there.
6. "Jewellery Work" - Silvia Kurpinska
This is a very organic piece of jewellery created by Silvia Kurpinska, i like this piece because its a part of nature, she found this on a beach and because she though it was beautiful the way it looked already she delibretly tried to do as little as possible to it so it would keep this organic form and colour.
7. "Crystalised rose" - Tokujin Yoshioka
I really like what hes done to make this it is a really nice piece and the materials that he has used is very original which i like. In the center of the piece there is a rose so to me it seems like Tokujin Yoshioka is trying to communicate through this that everything and everyone is beautiful on the inside.
8. Photography Abelardo Morell
I like this photograph because i like how he has tured an ordinary and dull room into an exicing and busy envirnoment. If you think about it the two pictures that hes combined together are compleatly opposite to eachother because in a city it is very crowded with people and usually very busy, like the saying 'the city never sleeps' and in the other picture a bedroom is somwhere you'd want to get away from all that so get some peace and quiet. So i like how you can clearly see the bed in the photograph so in a way it looks like he's trying to change that saying 'the city never sleeps'.
9. "Ceramics Sculpture" - Beverly Bell-Hughes
I love this piece by Beverly Bell- Hughes because it is such a beautiful and organic piece, you can tell just by looking at this that she got inspired from the sea. It reminds me very much of the waves on the beach just before it crashes into the sand by the sea side. i also love the colours she has used to reate this piece because i think the colours compliment eachother quite well.
10. "Sculpture" - Michelle Griffiths
I love these pieces by Michelle Griffiths because i like how she has made something so beautiful only by using fabirc as a material, it is very sophisticated work and i love how organic they are. i think they kind of look like sea urchins which i like because i think sea urchins are really nice creatures because they have lovely forms.
